David Neumann David Neumann is a Forestry Business Consultant with the Tennessee Department of Agriculture, where he supports the growth of Tennessee’s wood products industry by assisting new and expanding forestry businesses. He joined the department in 2022 and brings more than 30 years of experience in forest management and the forestry industry.

Before joining the Tennessee Department of Agriculture, Neumann spent nearly 25 years with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, serving as a Forest Marketing and Utilization Specialist. He also previously worked as the State Silviculturist and as a Forest Planning and Operations Analyst.

In addition to his public-sector experience, Neumann operated a private forestry consulting business in Michigan, where he managed timber sales, conducted timber appraisals, served as an expert witness in timber trespass cases, and developed management plans through the Forest Stewardship Program.

Neumann holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism, a Bachelor of Science in Forestry, and a master’s degree in Forestry with an emphasis in Silviculture.
