Claire Getty is the Chief Financial Officer at Thompson Appalachian Hardwoods, where she plays a pivotal role in guiding the company's financial strategy and ensuring its sustained growth. 

Experience and Background

Claire joined Thompson Appalachian Hardwoods in May 2012 as the CFO and has been with the company for over 13 years.

Her Previous Role: 

Prior to her role at Thompson Appalachian Hardwoods, Claire worked as a Planner at Pond & Company in the greater Atlanta area from January 2011 to May 2012.

Claire is part of the Thompson family, who founded and own. Her parents are Nordeck and Mary Claire Thompson, the founders of the company. Claire's sister, Mary Lee McConnell, serves as the Chief Administrative Officer, and her brother, Nick Thompson, is the President and COO. Her husband, Drew Getty, holds the position of Vice President of Procurement.

Sustainable Practices: 

Claire is passionate about sustainable design and integrates eco-friendly practices into her work at Thompson Appalachian Hardwoods.

She has advocated for the forest industry at the Tennessee State Capitol, engaging with legislators and connecting with industry leaders to support the future of wood products. Industry Advocacy: Claire emphasizes the importance of sustainable forestry and works to counter misconceptions about the industry, explaining that Thompson Appalachian Hardwoods prioritizes responsible forest management and strives for full forest utilization with zero waste. 

Education:

  • Georgia Institute of Technology:

    • Master of Science in Architecture - Urban Design (2009-2010)

    • Master of City and Regional Planning in Urban Design (2008-2010)

  • University of Georgia: Bachelor of Landscape Architecture in Sustainable Design (2003-2008) 

Skills and Expertise

Claire's background in both finance and design provides her with a unique perspective, enabling her to approach business challenges with a creative and analytical mindset. Her expertise encompasses urban planning, land use planning, comprehensive planning, and urban design. 

In essence, Claire Getty is a dedicated and accomplished financial executive with a strong commitment to sustainable practices and a deep understanding of the forest products industry.
